I came across this video recently and realized even though this is not a miniature and the clay is water-based, the construction of the face is very similar to what we do in polymer clay. Note especially how she uses the distance between the irises to be her measure for how wide to make the mouth. The key to a beautiful face is symmetry and feature location. Watch the video below and be inspired.
